1972 Corvette Coupe Big Block --RESTORED/STREET PERFORMER/SHOWCAR-- Featured on the cover of “Vette” Magazine and in their Calendar for the same year. AMAZING looking, sounding, and driving. This is the second time we’ve been privileged enough to have this beauty in our position. The first time was back in 2011. We purchased the car from a man who bought it from the man who had most of the restoration done. The gentleman we got the car from the first time, only bought it as an investment. He made the mistake of bringing the car by my shop to show it off, which worked because subsequently, that led to us buying it from him. After we showed the car through the dealership and let it generate some brand recognition for us, we sold the car to its last owner with 24,500 miles on the restoration.
This unique Corvette has undergone several reinventions of itself over the past 25 years. Most recently (about 2 years ago) the car went through a full repaint to the same color specs as it was prior to paint. It looks, first-class! Of course, before all of this it was restored, that restoration was a 3-year job by Mike's Body Shop in Low Moor Iowa, where they spent over $15,000 (that was back in ‘03-’05). In 2008 it was started again and finished with him spending another $12k +. At that time it had the Chevy 454 Engine, Automatic transmission, Turbo 400 driveline, Adjustable suspension. Power steering, Power disc brakes, Air conditioning (not currently installed/not included). Everything new – too much to list here (some parts were rebuilt). During the second half, all factory seams were ground, and re-glassed, 4 New 17” tires, “INTRO” custom polished wheels. New battery, Lots of like new chrome, Hooker headers and chrome side pipes. Interior featured: Newer interior, Nice leather seats, New steering wheel, Newer carpet and floor mats, New door panels, Radio delete, New Instrument cluster with the radio opening deleted, New mirrors, new visors and seat belts.
So most of everything listed above is still equipped to the car only a few things have been improved or replaced: Replaced L-88 Hood, Paint, the car was stripped and fiberglass that needed work was professionally fixed and the car sprayed (Beautiful) The Engine has been seriously upgraded to a 694 HP 540cu. in. Big Block Chevy-Aluminum Block and heads (a cost of over 20k for the engine). 4 New 18” Nitto tires, Front 245/40 -ZR18 and rear 275/40 -ZR18 and new INTRO polished wheels. The Turbo 400 HD transmission rebuilt with a cooler added. Rear Differential HD Posi-traction and case, HD Driveshaft, half shafts, axles and spindles, new dash and instrument bezels, new Bilstein shocks Front and Rear, new Addco sway bars front and rear, New Vette Brakes, Front and Rear Leaf Suspension, new Hooker headers with Chrome side pipes.
Very few miles since finished, showing only 28,180 miles on the car and around 3k on the engine. This is a car that will not only turn heads because of how amazing it looks and sounds but when you want to get down to business, this pretty face has a mean side, hold on to your head because it MOOOVES. Included in sale: “DYNO Result” printout, Factory Service Manual, Factory Assembly manual, Sportscar buyer’s guide, + Owners Manual, a few old pictures, Receipts from first restorations and the printed-out article in Vette Magazine.
